Bikeability

Although significant improvements could be made in improving Ellsworth's bikeability, there is an existing infrastructure which can help it achieve this goal. The first bicycle-friendly advantage that Ellsworth possesses is the Ellsworth pedestrian and bicycle trail which connects downtown neighborhoods to the village of Ellsworth Falls, including access to Ellsworth High School. The city is also home to the start of the Downeast Sunrise Trail, an 87-mile mixed-use trail connecting Ellsworth to Downeast Maine. The East Coast Greenway, a 3,000-mile biking route that connects east coast cities of the US to Canada, also passes through the city.
