Ellsworth pedestrian and bicycle trail

No motorized vehicles allowed

The trail runs from the end of Spring Street at Birch Avenue to Falls Court in Ellsworth Falls. The trail is accessible from Falls Court, Lakes Lane, Ellsworth High School, Lejok street, Davis Street, and Birch Avenue.

If trying to access the trail from downtown:

We recommend crossing Oak Street at the Main Street traffic light. Head down Oak Street one block and turn right on Church Street. Continue on Church Street for one block and turn left on Spring Street. Continue on Spring Street for three blocks, then cross the railroad tracks and you should find the trail entrance to your left adjacent to the tracks on Birch Avenue. Please note the railroad tracks are active. DO NOT WALK ON THEM.

If trying to access the trail from the Downeast Sunrise Trail

We recommend taking Beals Avenue from the Downeast Sunrise Trail to Main Street,. then crossing Main Street, (please note there is no crosswalk at Main Street). After crossing Main Street continue up Union Street for one block to Bayview Avenue and continue on Bayview Avenue for three blocks. At the end of Bayview Avenue, turn left down Park Street. Once you have crossed the railroad tracks, turn right down Spring Street for one block.. Then cross the railroad tracks and you should find the trail entrance to your left adjacent to the tracks on Birch Avenue. Please note the railroad tracks are in use active. DO NOT WALK ON THEM.

If trying to access a trail from State Street/Knowlton Park

Cross State Street at the Moore Ccommunity Center and then , continue down State Street towards downtown for one block. Turn down School Street for one block and then turn down Birch Avenue. Continue on down Birch Avenue to Oak Street and then walk down Oak Street for approximately one block heading towards Ellsworth High School. Cross Oak Street at the crosswalk at Davis Street and continue up Davis Street; you should be able to find the trail adjacent to the railroad tracks. NOTE!! Birch Avenue does not have sidewalks. For approximately two properties on Oak Street there are no sidewalks.
