Green Ellsworth has created a Green Guide to living more sustainably because the future of our community, the environment, and the planet depends on people who take both individual and collective action right now.
The Guide is organized into sections with suggestions intended to motivate and facilitate personal change in various aspects of daily living. Information and links to further resources are provided to help people put the suggestions into action through more conscious decision making, habitual behavior and community engagement. Although no one will be able to implement all of these suggestions, gradually exploring a few sections and suggestions at a time should lead to a greener lifestyle—one which embraces informed and creative ways to balance human needs and wants with what the only planet we have can sustain. With this guide, Green Ellsworth invites you to live the changes we need to make for a more sustainable future.
The Ellsworth Green Plan has been written with input from hundreds of stakeholders, including content experts, business owners, university faculty, state and federal agency representatives, municipal officials, non-profit advocates, community group participants, parents, teachers, students, and other interested residents and invested area members. It was conceived as a citizen's initiative and it remains one.
Prior to finalizing the document, we facilitated a final public consultation process and incorporated additional input from members of the public.
Please feel free to peruse the full Ellsworth Green Plan or specific sections of interest to you.
All public consultation video recordings are available below. Public input on the Green Plan was also solicited through the Green Ellsworth website and social media. For more information or for any questions, please email Mary Blackstone.
